The Xiqu Center of Taiwan has inaugurated on October 3rd. The inauguration together with the Opening of Asia Pacific Traditional Arts Festival is a great event for Taiwan's performing arts circle.

As the first theater center in Taiwan to have an on-site troupe, the building has office, rehearsal, and performance spaces, as well as flexible outdoor stage areas. The Xiqu Center enables the traditional performing arts of Taiwan to find a contemporary status to connect with the international stage.

THSR Changhua Station had been announced in the 2016 World Architecture Festival Awards Finalists

The World Architecture Festival (WAF), one of the largest international gatherings of architects, has just revealed its shortlist for 2016 awards: 343 projects are selected for the finalists, and “THSR Changhua Station” by KRIS YAO | ARTECH is one of the finalists, listed in the category of “Completed Buildings- Transport.” Over 100 professional judges will divide into 3 people presentation group to review the finalist projects and select the winner of each categories. This year's festival will be held from November 16-18, 2016 at Arena Berlin in Germany. The finalists include many renown world architects, such as Zaha Hadid, Foster + Partners, BIG and Aedas, etc.

The "WithIn ‧ WithOut." exhibition offers two themes. The "WithIn" part provides a range of elements including motion picture, music, and big installations that combine to show the inner thoughts of the Architect, Kris Yao. These elements embed the moments of inspiration of the architect that makes the works embody the architect's philosophy and instinct. The "WithOut" part offers selected pieces from Kris Yao, including drawings, documentaries, detailed models, and sketches. Through the demonstration, the viewer gets to understand not only the professional sphere of the architect, but also the poetic stage on which the architect performs to touch the very souls of the people and to serve the people's lives.

China Steel Corporation HQ has been awarded the “International Architecture Awards, 2014”

The International Architectural Awards organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd., has announced the 2014 award winners. This annual program give an important global overview of the current aesthetic direction  to the general public worldwide and it  has become the most significant international awards program in the world. Winners of this year , including Tadao Ando Architect & Associates, Arup Associates, Steven Holl Architects….etc.  In November 2014, the program will present a special exhibition of all awarded buildings, “The City and the World” during the Second Istanbul Design Biennial in Istanbul, Turkey. After Istanbul, the exhibition will then travel inside Europe and the USA in 2015.

An alumni reception will be hosted by the Berkeley Taiwan Club at Regent Taipei on September 9^th 2014.

The AIA Annual Convention was held this year in the Auditorium Theater at Roosevelt University, designed by Louis Sullivan, the "father of modernism." Kris Yao and three Spanish architects were bestowed with the Hon. FAIA in the ceremony.

AIA introduced Architect Yao with the following words: "Kris Yao has demonstrated his humanity with the development of physical elements that hold true to human emotion and conditions, cultural and historical context, and a sense of scale and place. His architecture has a poetic nature, using his native eastern aesthetic and spirituality with a sense of natural light, interplay of surfaces and forms and executing all with a high level of innovation and professionalism."

建築師姚仁喜歷經6年完成的景觀道場《法鼓山農禪寺》，以聖嚴法師箴言「空中花，水中月」為設計理念，將佛教哲學強調的重要觀念：「不是真實存在」的幻相，以具體的建築物表達出來。姚仁喜指出，「怎麼把建築做成『如幻』，因而能提醒造訪者的正念，這是我的工作。」這座深富禪意的道場，入圍本屆遠東建築獎。

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States with over 150 years of history.  In February 7th, AIA had announced Kris Yao, the Taiwanese architect is to be bestowed the 2014 Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects. AIA National Convention and the Design Exposition this year is to be held in Chicago, Illinois in June.  Kris Yao will receive the honor and presenting his architecture philosophy in the Convention seminars.

After on-site visits of 11 finalists, Water-Moon Monastery has granted the First Prize of the "2013 Taiwan Architecture Award". This year the juries include Japanese Architect Norihiko Dan, and four Taiwanese Architects, Yi Yong Yang, Malone Chang, Shu-Ting Li, and Hua-Shan Guan. The juries commented that though the Water-Moon Monastery is a religious project, it transcends religious and nonreligious tastes. The open spatial design is welcoming, with an abstract presentation of light and shadow giving visitors a sense of serenity.

Wuzhen Theatre and Water-Moon Monastery are proud finalists in the 2013 World Architecture Festival Awards Finalist works.

Architizer 於2009年創立於紐約，為目前全球主要建築網站之一。 2013年Architizer 舉辦第一屆A+ 大獎，邀請全球知名建築師Steven Hall, Bjarke Ingels (BIG)、工業設計師 United Nude- Rem D Koolhaas等200多位專業評審，評選來自100多個國家的建築作品，並且開放全球網路票選。

中鋼集團總部大樓樓高卅二層，預計年底完工，門牌成功二路八十八號，有「發發」之意，夜間帷幕牆燈管開啟，如鼎器放光，市民稱讚，「夜珍珠」閃爍。

已成為蘭陽新地標的蘭陽博物館，昨日再傳捷報，從全球三百多件參賽作品脫穎而出，獲得美國芝加哥舉辦的國際建築競賽「國際建築獎」（The International Architecture Awards），這也是蘭陽博物館開館兩年以來，於國內外獲頒的第六座建築獎項。

台灣戲劇藝術中心14日動土，建築構想來自京劇一桌二椅概念。
籌備多年的台灣戲劇藝術中心十四日舉行動土典禮，文建會所屬國光劇團以「五福靈官」淨台祈福儀式揭開序幕。台灣戲劇藝術中心未來將由國立台灣傳統藝術總處籌備處所屬國光劇團、台灣音樂中心、國家國樂團與國立實驗合唱團等四個團體進駐，為國內第一個擁有駐院劇團的專業劇場。

行政院舉辦品質最高榮譽的「公共工程金質獎」揭曉。宜蘭縣政府籌建18年的「蘭陽博物館」榮獲最高殊榮「特優獎」，這已經是這座博物館今年內第三度獲得國內建築首獎，堪稱三冠王。

FIRST PRIZE, 32TH TAIWAN ARCHITECTURE AWARD─LANYANG MUSEUM

「台灣的建築師水準很齊，五件作品很難評出高下。」大陸評審團幾乎一直認可。在第七屆遠東建築獎決賽評審中，在大家激烈討論下，最後評初台灣建築師姚仁喜的大元聯合建築師事務所「蘭陽博物館」贏得本屆台灣組的傑出獎，獲得全國最高的建築獎金一百萬元。

KRIS YAO | ARTECH, the Architectural firm of Kris Yao, had won the Ping Tung Performing Arts Center International Competition Project, and was awarded with design service contract priority. Chung Chia-pin, the Deputy County Magistrate indicated that “Ping Tung Performing Arts Center Construction Plan” is a major public construction. The hall will be majorly used as a music performance hall; therefore, most of the domestic architecture firms with “acoustics” design experiences were invited to join the competition. The goal is to make this Arts Center nationally renowned after 4 years.

The name lists were carefully selected, and Kris Yao was among one of the 37.

Competition 1st Prize, Taipei Performing Arts Center, 2009 (collaboration with OMA) The Taipei Performing Arts Center is an international competition project with a construction budget of NT.38 hundred million supervised by the Taipei City Government. OMA, the design team lead by Architect Rem Koolhas has finally won the competition. The Dutch architect, Rem Koolhas, is also the former Prizker winners.

台灣首次舉辦的國際建築師集體創作「下代基因20 (NEXT GENE20) 國際建築博覽會」，將前進今年九月的威尼斯建築雙年展展出。這項國際集體創作計畫，在建商的支持下，邀請十組國際建築團隊及十組台灣建築事務所，在北縣澳底以「新世紀的住宅實驗場」為概念，設計一系列住宅。

三層三角形錯落堆疊 安藤：比正方形更有空間發揮 施工會很辛苦。

日本建築師安藤忠雄設計、一棟擁有不規則三角形、如積木般錯落堆積而成的藝術館，可望於兩年後在台中縣霧峰的亞洲大學揭幕。

90年代起，以台北為中心發展出來的一波新建築美學運動，與80年代做出分水嶺般的斷切。這是台灣近代建築史上重要的一個轉捩點，其主要特色在於由商業導向過濃的後現代主義，迴轉重返入現代主義的大方向，其中姚仁喜建築師就是這波新美學運動的主力舵手，當時其他重要參與建築師還包括有簡學義、張樞等人。

由國家文化藝術基金會所主辦的「國家文藝獎」，為獎勵以生命力量堅持藝術創作，並積極創造獨特且具現代風格的藝文工作者。一向被藝文界視為國家最高榮譽的獎項，目前共分文學、美術、音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、建築、電影等7種類別。

Taiwan Revealed Architecture 2010.07 A shot on Artech Architects' website features a Gursky-like image of 160-odd employees, hands in the air and smiling, at the R&D centre of Quanta, a leading hi-tech company in Taiwan. It suggests a practice that is a master of the Asian megaproject, yet retains a sense of humour and creativity.

After reviewing 18 selected works, the judges of Taiwan Annual Architecture Award finally chose the winners in the evening of October, 24. They decided to give the award to 4 remarkable projects including Taipei 101, Taiwan High Speed Rail Hsinchu Station, National Pingpei Senior High and Xinyi-Planning District Pedestrian Overpass.

北京建築圈矚目的中國美術館增建比圖，昨日公告，台灣建築師姚仁喜獲得第二獎，首獎從缺，本案將繼續比圖，預計五月中才將完成最後階段，選擇一家出線，姚仁喜的設計出線機率相當高。 

Quanta Research & Development Center is awarded Honorable Mention. The design of Quanta Research & Development Center is formed by a two floors courtyard, and allocated most of the facilities on the site. A skylight is covered on the top of atrium creating a centralized space. Outside of the massing is constructed with the double curtain walls. By using the materials of various dots and punched holes, the second floor is formed by a bar-code as the word “QUANTA.”

創校不及20年、正值「青壯年」期的元智大學，校園一棟棟特色建築，櫛比鱗次，成為美麗的校景之ㄧ，其中尤以資訊圖書大樓最具有特色，出自國內知名建築師姚仁喜之手，還獲得遠東傑出建築設計大獎。

Kris Yao received the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the College of Environmental Design, U.C. Berkeley, 2005 After graduating for 26 years, the College of the Environmental Design (CED) of the University of California, Berkeley, is going to give Kris Yao the Distinguished Alumnus Award on May 23rd this year. 

Competition Second Prize, Second Phase of the China Fine Arts Museum Expansion Project, Beijing, 2005 Among the Beijing design industry, the attention-getting competition result of the Expansion Project of the China Fine Arts Museum was finally announced: Kris Yao, the Taiwanese Architect won the 2nd Prize. Honorable Mention, WA Architecture Awards, 2002- Compal Headquarters, Taipei This year’s “WA Architecture Awards” sponsored by the famous Chinese architectural magazine “World Architecture” is just announced. 3 winners and 3 honorable mentions were chosen out of all 44 nominated works. Architect Kris Yao’s Compal Headquarters was awarded with Honorable Mention.

蘭陽博物館基地所在─烏石礁公園 曾為蘭陽地區重要的港口之一， 烏石港是海船進入宜蘭的首要港口， 是清代唯一的「正口」，當時蘭陽地區輸出土產米穀 輸入日用什貨，都依賴這個港口。

「遠東建築獎」昨初審 姚仁喜建築師等十件作品及七各團體與個人入圍 九月將決選出得獎者

1st Prize, the Outstanding Architectural Design Award in Chiangsu Province, 2000- Yageo Corp. Suzhou Factory, China

2nd Prize, 921 Earthquake School Rebuilding Design Award, The 2nd Far Eastern Architectural Design Award, 2000 After an eight-hour marathon discussion carried out by the 11 juries, the additional award list of the “special awards of the 921 earthquake school rebuilding award” was finally announced. Kris Yao (Shuang Wen Junior High School of Nan-Tou County) was awarded with the 2nd prize.

Competition 1st Prize, Ethon-Music Center, 2002 Artech Architects/ Kris Yao had won the design priority authority of the Ethon-Music Center Competition held by the Council for Cultural Affairs, the Executive Yuan.

In 2000, the firm was awarded with the 1st prize of the Phase I Development Planning Competition of the Yi-Lan Lan Yan Museum.  Imitating the single side slide rock formation at the Bei-Kuan area as the museum’s building form, which brought resonances among the juries.

「突破與創新」做為第一屆遠東傑出建築設計獎的主題，準確的說這個獎是對台灣當前優秀建築師建築設計成就的一種肯定，但廣義的角度來說，做為台灣第一個由民間企業主辦的建築獎，其主題「突破與創新」含蓋了「建築專業經驗傳統」的承啟。換言之，建築的專業經驗如果可以成為一種傳統，其累積的結果將是一種「文化風格」的顯現，也當然是生活於此的人民一種生活態度與生活內容的「再現」。本屆遠東建築設計傑出獎，以正式獎項之外的「特別獎 」頒發給張昌華建築師與王大閎建築師，我認為應為植基於二位資深建築師在其建築設計作品中對過去五十餘年來的台灣傳統建築發展在建立台灣建築專業經驗傳統上有著不可磨滅的重要貢獻。

一如建築界的預期，第一屆遠東建築設計獎，由姚仁喜建築師錦上添花地掄元，獲得傑出獎與一百萬獎金。

至於佳作獎，亦由近年來的常勝軍，黃聲遠建築師以其位於宜蘭的作品順利摘下第二順位。評審團爭執比較大的是，第三順位的佳作獎得主，兩組三位資深建築師，王秋華/潘冀與吳明修，各有青睞者。但兩位外來的建築師認為，吳明修的作品較為成熟，故將另一佳作獎頒給他。佳作獎獲得五十萬元獎金。

由建築師雜誌社所舉辦的年度建築大獎選拔，今年易名為「一九九九台灣建築獎」日昨選出得獎名單，近年建築得獎常勝軍姚仁喜建築師，又以伽耶山基金會/台中養慧學苑獲得大獎，另一件作品台北大陸工程總部辦公大樓已獲佳作。另一位得獎者為宜蘭礁溪竹林養護院連續兩年得大獎，可說是建築界已呈強者愈強的型態。

大陸工程總部辦公室是一件清新且令人驚喜的建築設計。相較於台灣近年來對於高層建築地強調光亮玻璃帷幕為主要操作手法的作風，這件作品明顯地想嘗試完全不 同的路線。簡潔俐落的玻璃量體懸吊於混凝土柱結構，簡單直接；包括玻璃、清水混凝土以及灰色的結構鋼架，所有材料的使用都呈現出一種在台灣的商業環境中極為少見的簡樸。

His submitted projects including “Yuan Ze University Library,” “TNNUA College Of Sound And Image Arts,” and “Continental Engineering Corporation Headquarters.”。

參與了這屆雜誌獎評審對我來說，才比較有機會領略深入了解別人對建築的態度，比如說中研院資訊所，雜誌作品刊出的時候只是大略了解，這次為了評選這個案 子，花了比較多的精神，了解建築師的態度及意圖。而其它評審的觀點再交融之後的討論，都有助於異於平日自己處理設計案的經驗。而對於比較深入了解的案子， 我也扮演引領其它評審了解其設計意企圖、設計密度的角色，比如高雄紫竹林精舍，我就扮演這種角色。

寓抽象概念於知識殿堂的建築之中評元智圖書資訊大樓利用動線的遊走、靈活的量體組合配置與場所精神再現等觀念與設計手法，本案成功地將抽象的概念推演至建築與人的關係，在人的尺度裡，得到另一層次的滿足。

姚仁喜作品人性化贏得喝采 掌握環境脈絡，規畫富邦金融中心大樓、 元智大學圖書資訊大樓，兩件作品均有豐富的晝夜’表情’

得獎感言 建築師不應以名利為念 而應重視利他與服務

He is an architect who uses “humanity” and “affection” to create resonance between architecture and people. The 1997’s National Outstanding Architect Award is awarded to Kris Yao, who is comparably a new comer of the design field. The news has surprised most of people who believed that this award will be given out in a “senior priority” sequence. The publics show their curiosity, and start to discover more about Kris Yao!
