KRIS YAO│ARTECH Wins the Hefei Central Library Design Competition

The Hefei Central Library will be adjacent to the beautiful Swan Lake at the New Municipal District of Hefei city. Through the characteristics of lake-view passages and three-dimensional public landscape, it will become the new architecture preserving traditional knowledge and serving contemporary culture.
The new library will provide various cultural spaces for: reading and collection, local documents preservation, information distribution, urban planning show window, performance and exhibit, continuing education, kids activity, and etc. The total area is 56,000 square meters with 11 floors above ground and one underground.
The architecture concept is site spirit, 3D city, and sealed signature. Through design features of interweaving, raising, and sinking volumes, the new library will become a favorite gathering place in the New Hefei Municipal District, linking with significant public buildings around the lake.
