The QRDC Concert Hall is located in the Quanta Research and Development Center, and serves as a multi-functional performance hall for the staff and general public. Using architectural acoustics as the point of departure, the concert hall stands independently from other functions of the building to ensure that the events taking place in the concert hall is not interfered by its surroundings.
The three walls around the auditorium are major design elements in the theater, both in terms of visual and acoustic effects. Aesthetically, the use of wooden blocks on these walls creates a strong image for the hall by taking forms as Chinese seals, replicated from the owner’s private collection of precious Chinese art. Acoustically, the various sizes and depths of the wooden block gave the hall its fine acoustic quality.
